to CameraWare Questions
Written by: Staff
CameraWare software is written and upgraded continually to meet the changing needs of its broadcasters and viewers. Due to its intense use of resources, occasionally the user runs into minor problems. Listed below are common broadcasting questions and their simple solutions.
I
don't get a Preview Image
Make sure your camera works by testing
it with a program that is known to work with it, like icuii or netmeeting.
If it does not, try rebooting and while the computer is off, check to make
sure the camera is firmly plugged into the computer and the power is on.
If the camera works well with another video applications, you need to update
your driver. Most camera companies have websites that you can get the latest
drivers from. If you have trouble, please visit the Live Technical Support

I
get a Preview Image but I don't see my name on the Channel Menu.
Make sure you know what name you
are looking for. It is the whatever you entered for Broadcast name on the
Login screen This name will appear below your preview image on the CameraWare
Video Sender software.
.If you are running a firewall, you will need to deal with it one of two ways: dropping and raising the firewall or by opening port 31001 in your firewall. If you choose to drop and raise, then whenever you want to use your CameraWare Video Sender software simply drop the firewall, start your CameraWare Video Sender software then raise your firewall again.
If you use AOL, there is a good chance that you will not be able to
broadcast. You can search for a free website in your area by going to either
of these sites:
If your modem is older, you may want to try a new one. They are inexpensive these days and are worth upgrading.
You may have bad settings leftover from when you upgraded your CameraWare Video Sender software. You should exit out of CameraWare, and delete the "surveylens.ini" file from their CameraWare folder. Then you can restart CameraWare and login. This will fix any incorrect settings remaining from when they've upgraded CWVS.
If you have an IBM camera and Win98, this trick might work for you!
- Choose Video/Image Capture Options from the VideoSender menu. The
"Video Format" dialog box appears.
- Under the label, "Pixel Depth (bits) and Compression", select "RGB
24" from the listbox.
- Under the "Resolution" label, select 320x240 from the listbox.
- Press the OK button.
Note: The IBM Camera ALREADY works properly under Windows 2000,
so this info applies only to Win98 installations.
I
downloaded and installed CameraWare Video Sender software but I don't see
an icon on my desktop.
Download the PLAIN program from:
You need to SAVE IT to c:\cameraware
- then RUN IT whenever you want to use CameraWare
This *special* version will not
create a CameraWare icon on your desktop but you can create your own shortcut
to the desktop from the cwvs.exe file in your cameraware folder"
I've
done all the steps and I still cannot broadcast. What do I do now?
