Many months ago, the world was given a speech. This speech brought forth many discussions, arguments, innuendos and idealisms of origin. President Bush began a tirade for peace by action. He has not backed down from this stand and in effect has unified a world for the betterment of all societies. As I look around today, I can see many once terrified nations now bravely siding with the strength and determination of one man to alter their worlds as they currently, horrifically know it. Yes, one man--President Bush. He is responsible for turning the world leaders on their axis and helping to focus them on one goal: world peace. He has pushed for these leaders to take a stand where they have otherwise hidden behind supposedly legally binding contracts, all too many times broken.

He has continuously reminded the world of the atrocities that exist on a daily basis in Iraq, a country that is led by a man whose ideals and compassion rank as high as Hitler's; and yet, leaders still balk at doing what should have been done many years ago--remove from power the obstacle in the path of human dignity in a country where it doesn’t exist.

I have to admit that for many months, I was one of the nay Sayers looking for a reason, a substantial motive for force to be used. Not finding that one specific reasoning, I concluded that President Bush must have his own materialistic, financial motives for this huge charade of imminent threat by a man who has been sadistically quiet for years.

I spent many months picking apart every word written and spoken either for or against President Bush's plans for action. I read everything from the beginning, of the reign of a tyrannical maniac, the outcome of such forceful action against Iraq, the possible control of oil (which is a minute share considering the holdings of oil in other parts of the world) and have searched frantically for a reason to continue to doubt Bush's motives.

It is, realistically, quite simple for a mind to believe the worst in someone whose intentions are good when they implore the use of the very thing they are fighting against--pain and suffering. But, is it logical to believe that a sadistic, tyrannical, murderous, callous mind such as that held by Saddam Hussein would honestly step up and give away all his secrets and/or weapons with a smile?

We have nothing to fear from President Bush. We do have tons to fear from Saddam Hussein and those like him.

That became my awakening into the logic behind this push for disarmament in Iraq. As one who is opposed to war, knowing that many lives will be lost in the process, it became painfully clear that many more lives will be lost if these leaders and/or terrorists are shielded from responsibility out of fear. President Bush and those who stand behind him will have a much more strategic plan of action to prevent deaths than Saddam or his followers ever would have. Let's face it--where we are compassionate and careful, Saddam and his followers would tear out your heart and feed it to a starving child who skin has been peeled for fun with radiation.

It is hard for us to fathom what life truly is like for the civilians in Iraq. We do not have any idea of what fear is on such a daily basis. We don’t know and therefore, are ignorant to step in. We are afraid to bother with such a huge responsibility.

It is easy to declare the want of peace when your home is safe, your children are safe, and your fears are bills yet to come in the mail. Our lives are safe and as such, it is our responsibility to ensure that the lives of children and civilians in all countries can say the same.

It is time for our world to stand together and ensure that our children and our children's children will not have to face the wrath of terrorism, the wrath of Saddam Hussein and others like him. To suggest that President Bush has oil as his primary motivation is ludicrous. His motive is to protect the world we live in and to make a positive mark on history.

As a society who calmly, safely crawl into our beds at night looking forward to a peaceful sleep, we need to stand behind the changes in our world that will ensure the peace of everyone's sleep for many generations to come. We need to support a new world with all its abrupt changes and have faith in the fact that we have a peaceful leader--President Bush--to lead us. One man can make a difference and I would rather that one man be Mr. Bush rather than Mr. Hussein.

I applaud Mr. Bush for his actions, for his stand, for his determination and setting goals to make our world better. It is about time that someone stood up for this world on a grander scale and it is about time the world joined him in his fight for peace, for the removal of all tyranny, removal of all terrorist actions.

It's been a long, hard road for President Bush and the road ahead is still longer but if anyone can ride it out successfully, I am certain Mr. Bush can.

I just hope we can put down the protest signs long enough to look at the bigger picture and lend our support. We need to widen our scope of the world beyond our own bedrooms, our own cities, our own countries and stand behind what is right--the safety and security of all nations, even if by force.

As someone who has been heavily swayed by war and fear of war, the very idea of having my country bombarded into a lifestyle such as the Iraqi people live is much scarier than a swift war of compassion and a quick removal of those who oppress, terrorize, and humiliate their own people as a control issue.

The signs being held at protests will not stop a man being tortured to death in the morning, it will not stop a child being raped and/or mutilated, it will not stop the daily occurrence of atrocities that take place in Iraq and other nations. It encourages those leaders to continue their paths of destruction under an erroneous shield of compassion. Compassion is only good when the results of such protests protect today and tomorrow--not just today.

If you already fear, imagine the fear yet to come if Saddam and his followers get their way.

If already you are afraid, then now is the time to stand up for your survival and the survival of those who cannot fight for themselves. Now is not the time to dwindle on your back porch, admiring the sunset and pretending that all is right in the world.

If any war is to exist, I would much prefer a war that is controlled, protected, and exists only to ensure the peace of all nations rather than a war that comes out of nowhere, at any time, by a man or men whose ideals about life are nonexistent. I would rather have a war led by good rather than evil, and if it takes a pre-emptive strike and/or strikes to do that, then so be it.

It is not time to call for peace because peace only exists in the illogical mind--not the world--and that's just not good enough.

You may not agree with me and that's understandable, as I would not have agreed me with even weeks ago. But I have since opened my eyes wide enough to extend past my borders and faced the reality of others' lives as they live it, and the ramifications that could occur if Saddam and his "kindness" strike first.

The big picture is scary no matter which side strikes first, but I am certain that I would rather have Mr. Bush as the director, because the alternative is a horror story that even Steven King couldn't--and wouldn't--want to fathom.
