Q. What is CameraWare, and how does it work?
A. CameraWare is a FREE Internet
video broadcasting service.
CameraWare allows you to use your PC camera and video capture card to broadcast LIVE
images to viewers worldwide! CameraWare lets others view your video
without using up your own Internet bandwidth by utilizing the fast
Internet connection on our own servers.
Q. Is CameraWare really FREE?
A. Yes. It is 100%
free to broadcast live on CameraWare
with your webcam or camera/camcorder. It is 100% free to
view
CameraWare webcams in the viewers that all
CameraWare Communities
have in their webpages.
Q. What are the latest versions of the
CameraWare Video Sender and Standalone Viewer programs?
A. 4.50 is the current version number for both
programs.
Q. Is CameraWare secure? Can anyone find out who or where I am when
I broadcast live on it?
A. CameraWare is 100% secure. Your
images go through our central relay server before being served to your
viewers/fans. Your fans are never directly connected to you. No one
can find out who you are, unless you tell them.
Q. Why are you giving away this fantastic service for free? What's the
catch?
A. There is no catch. We want viewers to watch the video broadcasts on
CameraWare and to support us by clicking on our sponsors' banners above the
videos. So, there is an exchange: You broadcast live and view the broadcasts
on CameraWare while checking out our sponsors, and we provide this great
service in return!
Additionally, we do offer upgraded CameraWare services through
the CameraWare License. For
those who want more functionality from the CameraWare Video Sender, or to
watch the broadcasts faster, full-screen, more rewind, etc. through the
CameraWare Standalone Viewer program, the CameraWare License is absolutely
the way to go.
Q. What software do I need in order to use CameraWare?
A. To broadcast video you need the CameraWare Video Sender.
To view CameraWare cams, you can visit any of our
CameraWare Communities and use
the free viewers on
their websites. These communities also have their own chatrooms!
To view CameraWare cams with more features, try the
CameraWare Standalone Viewer program. It is automatically downloaded
with the CameraWare Video Sender. The free version times out ever 5 minutes (annoying, yes!)
but will run continuously with a CameraWare License.
Q. What operating systems does CameraWare support?
A. Any windows operating system. The free viewers require
Java Support.
Macintosh users click here.
Q. How do I create my own CameraWare Community for free?
A. See our tutorial on How to
Create your own FREE CameraWare Community.
Q. Where can I get the free CameraWare viewer HTML code?
A. On our Webmasters Page.
Q. Is CameraWare streaming video?
A. No.
How fast is the image refresh rate when watching CameraWare webcams?
A. Free viewer: approximately every 15 seconds.
CameraWare Standalone Viewer: 2-3 seconds for the top viewed broadcasts. 5 seconds
for the rest.
Note that these speeds
can be affected by the broadcasters's internet connection speed, and yours
for viewing. We can only serve the images as fast as we receive them.
Q. How will I be able to tell how well my broadcast is doing?
A. This is our favorite Video Sender feature! The CameraWare Video
Sender has a status area at the top of the window. Every
5 minutes the stats displayed there will update and tell you:
- The number of live viewers you have.
- The number of viewers you have had in the past hour.
- The name of the top live broadcast and its number of viewers.
- The name of the top hourly broadcast and its number of viewers.
If you have no viewers you will not receive any broadcast statistics in the Status Area.

CameraWare Video Sender.

for others to see my live video?
A. Yes.

Q. I only have one phone line into my house. How would I use CameraWare
without tying up my only phone line?
